Fiberfolk love a good yarn! by Jeff

I've been knitting only 5 years, so I am still discovering things about the fiber community. Being present in the Sit n Stitch group on Tuesdays and Wednesdays is educational. Last Wednesday, the conversation turned to a discussion of 'what are you reading?' I have discovered that the fiber community is full of people who love a good story (a yarn). Many of you know I was a school librarian, so this topic makes my heart sing. I joined the discussion to tell them about one on my favorite reads last year: The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams. Such a good book about how reading changes us!
Seeing how excited everyone was to share their favorite books and authors, it occurred to me that we should start a LYS Reading List. The folks were happy to share their recommendations. Here's what the Folk of Wednesday Sit n Stitch came up with:
- Today I Wrote Nothing by Daniil Kharms;
- Small Gods by Terry Prachett;
- Dreams for Sale by Sandra Dallas;
- The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Anderson;
- Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage by Alfred Lansing;
- Theo of Golden by Allen Levi; a Perfect Stranger by Danielle Steel.
There also was a general discussion of writers, Kristin Hannah , Debbie Macumber, and Susan Wiggs were favorites of the group.
Since becoming a knitter most of my reading is done for me via audiobooks while I knit. Dana of Isadora Popper fame, recommended The Correspondent by Virginia Evans, a bestselling debut novel. I just finished the audiobook and could not stop listening.
I will ask the Tuesday group for their list. Tell me one of your best reads in the comments! Or drop in to Sit n Stitch and tell us in person!
