When the Stars Align

It is hard to believe that two years ago, I did not know what LYS Day was! I had never heard of it. Last year we had a great International Local Yarn Store Day at our former location on James Brown Blvd. We were able to close the street for a day of celebration. The staff educated this yarn newbie on LYS Day.
Our LYS event aligns with Independent Bookstore Day. We love having The Book Tavern as neighbors, and it was exciting to plan a day of events with them. All day long people were floating between The Book Tavern and Three Crows Fiber. At Three Crows Fiber, people found paper cranes made from book pages! At The Book Tavern, they found a yarn bombing. We are grateful for the community support we received with these aligning events.
Local Yarn Shop Day and Independent Bookstore Day are not about sales and marketing. They are truly about celebrating reading and the fiber arts. The events are about celebrating the blessings of having an Independent bookstore and a yarn shop. Both exist not simply for economic exchange but to create community. My last blog post I talked about how fiber folk love a good yarn.
We are grateful for all the folks of Downtown Soul City for being fantastic neighbors.
